This review collects published interlayer bond strength data for cement based extrusion printing and compares the test methods used to obtain it. The comparison is difficult precisely because the methods differ: specimen geometry, curing regime and loading rate all vary between groups.

Method

We screened published sources, retained those reporting both the delay between layers and the curing conditions, and normalised the reported strengths to a common specimen geometry where the original data allowed it.

Findings

Bond strength falls with increasing interlayer delay in every series we examined, but the rate of the fall varies by more than a factor of three between formulations. That spread, not the average, is the useful result for anyone designing a print schedule.

Limitations

Normalisation across geometries introduces its own uncertainty, and the sample of sources is biased towards formulations that were successful enough to publish.
